First 2013 Photo

I finally started my 2013 scrapping this past weekend and created my first three paper layouts for the year. (I'll be sharing those next week along with the challenge I set for myself!) However, I realized that we had not yet taken a single photo in 2013 until Sunday afternoon. Robbie had been busy in the kitchen while I was catching up on some blog reading. Cheryl was sharing a free digital template on her blog, and I was inspired to use it for this first photo of the year. I added one of Cheryl's digital papers, a photo Robbie snapped with his iPhone, and a little journaling to create my first digital layout of the year.

Journaling reads: We're over halfway through the month of January, and this is the first photo we've taken this year - a rather awkwardly oriented iPhone photo of the very cherry berry pie Robbie baked today. Unless we have a big event, January always seems to be the month with the least amount of photos. I think this is because we're so focused on capturing all the holiday events in December that we need a break from the camera. And, of course, this year I got a job after being on an "unofficial sabbatical" for the past 5 1/2 years. It's time to get back into photo-taking mode and begin preserving our 2013 memories!

Do you ever slow down with taking photos after the holiday season? Is your 2013 scrapping off to a good start?

I'm the same, only a few snowy photos taken this year.

I take a photo every day, but I haven't started any layouts yet this year. I'm signed up for LOAD, though, so February will be a big scrapbook month for me.

A very good point! The only photos I have taken so far have been of projects to put on my blog. I need more people and fewer projects I think!

I do love cherry pie

Looks yummy!! :) My breaks come when nothing is going on, but when I'm busy, I always have the camera around. I have already scrapbooked 6-7 layouts this month, so yes, I'd say 2o13 has been productive so far! :)

Nice pie! I must admit I'm not very good at taking a lot of photos. Seems it has to be an "event" before I think of using the camera. Shame on me.

I was just thinking this morning that I don't think we have any photos from January yet, aside from a few Instagrams. We have a few birthday parties coming up, so I suppose we'll catch up then.

Mmm, looks delicious! The only thing that has gotten me off my photo taking schedule has been this pregnancy LOL! I'm in the process of finishing up PL 2012 and I know I'm going to have issues with Oct-Dec b/c I was sick during most of that time and capturing that era of life wasn't appealing. LOL!

I know exactly what you mean. January often passes with an iphone picture of Paul's birthday cake and maybe something from New Year's Day!

On the contrary for me! I don't know exactly how many photos I have taken in January, but they are all with my iPhone and I would say I have at least 100!

PS - that pie looks delish!

Same here Melissa - thanks to the post Xmas lull I've only photographed for blogging.
There are no big event is Jan as No.1 Son now lives 3 hours away and birthday parties are now nights out with his friends. The winter weather and poor light mean that even walks don't provide good photo opps. Must try and remedy this before the 31st!

This photo makes me very hungry for cherry pie! Love what you did with the photo! I too slow down in January taking photos. I've never thought about it before!

Ah - we have our family do and birthdays in January so there are photos. Trying to ensure I take a photo a day with my photo 365 app too. Not worrying about scrapping moments, our family gratitude, my blog bits and oh life are enough for that.

Pie looks yummy tho'! Still have cherry pie filling and pastry from a planned Christmas treat too...

I've been taking photos - at least one a day - using my phone more than usual, partly because it's harder to carry my camera everywhere I go when I still have a stick with me! No scrapping done in ages but I have a craft date this Friday to make a start on Project Life :)

YUM to the pie! (And to the layout!)
