Quilters Eye Candy

Last Friday, Mama and I spent three hours strolling through a quilt show - the Dallas Quilt Celebration 2011 at Dallas Market Hall. As most of you know, I don't quilt, in fact, I don't even sew. However, since I am the proud owner of many handmade quilts, I believe it is important for me to encourage Mama in her quilt making hobby.

Here are just a few of the quilts that were on display. (You may notice that many of these contain my favorite color!)

If you'd like to see some of the other quilts from the show, check out Ellyn's post!

There were lots of vendor booths to look through as well, and I picked up a couple of gifts plus a few new items for my scrapbooking stash. First, I found this wonderful piece of Superman fabric.

And then I discovered a booth full of buttons! (You may have already noticed these crayola buttons on my Color Us Happy layout.) The three red dice buttons are actually vintage buttons that I'm  planning to use on my Games We Play mini-album.

Overall, it was a fun Friday spent with Mama. I'm off now to scrap a few layouts this afternoon.

I always love to see the art quilts. It is amazing what some women can do with bits of fabric!

I can visualize that Superman fabric in a great mug rug for Robbie. Glad you and Mama had a good time.

Sounds like a fun afternoon! I can sew, but I don't much. My Mom has made me a few quilts and I love them. It really is eye candy and enjoyable to look at them. Fun buttons! :)

What a lovely photo of you and your mom (you kinda look like her:)! I love the yellow and red one with the scalloped edges. I have helped make quilts with some of the women from work, years ago (I was the cutter and ironed on the pieces). Quilters and scrappers are very similar in their comradeship, so nice to see that you can support your mama!

How lovely to see you enjoying each other's company and hobbies. I would love my mum to be well enough to come out on trips with me - she is the one who got me creating in the first place after all. And those quilts are beautiful!

thanks for linking to me! We spent some time in the button booth too. Usually Ally comes away with a large selection of buttons, but not this year!

What wonderful, colorful quilts! TFS My mom and sisters quilt, but not me. Maybe someday. I love the fabric!

Sounds like you had a lovely time! I've never quilted, but I do love them - maybe one day :-)
