Dominoes

As you may have noticed during my daily December posts, Robbie and I have been playing dominoes quite a bit lately. This week's LOM Community challenge was to create layout about an aspect of your everyday life right now and to use tools and products that you use everyday that you scrap, so I create a layout about dominoes. I used cardstock, patterned paper, ribbon, letter stickers, and some Spare Parts marquee letters. I used my most common tools - paper cutter, scissors, adhesive, and pop dots. I also found a sketch to use as inspiration for the layout: the January Scrapbook Page Sketch from today's Get It Scrapped blog post. I really like the clean look of the sketch and the fact that it has room for four or five photos.

Journaling Reads: For the past nine years, the two of us have often played Canasta, the game that Robbie taught me on our honeymoon. However, right before Thanksgiving 2010, Robbie pulled out Grandy's old black and white double-twelve dominoes and we played a few games. Robbie wins most of the time, but dominoes has somehow become our go-to game for now. We played almost every day in December, often late into the night. Those white dots seemed to become all one big blur after a while, so I got Robbie a set of colored double-fifteen dominoes for Christmas. I read somewhere that games and puzzles that cause you to use your cognitive skills are one of the best ways to prevent Alzheimer's; adding, subtracting, and keeping track of the count with a set of double fifteen dominoes is definitely causing us to utilize our cognitive skills! We have always enjoyed playing games together, and for now it seems dominoes is our new game.

You have picked a perfect design for your page - it really reinforces the "domino" theme - and it's a great little part of your life to document too.
